PaperChain attended the 19th European Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP 2019)
PaperChain attended the European Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP) is one of Europe’s most remarkable conferences in its field and has taken place periodically since 1994. ERSCPs favour discussions about the key issues in sustainable consumption and production; the exchange of thoughts, knowledge, experiences and SCP proposals; and the creation of a European (also worldwide) community of research and practice in sustainable consumption and production. The main goal of the ERSCPs is to encourage discussion amongst stakeholders involved in sustainable consumption and production: businesses, public institutions, universities, institutes and research centres, NGOs, SMEs, professional associations, decision-makers, etc.
The European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP) Society is a research and action oriented society that provides a platform for the stimulation, development and dissemination of new initiatives aimed at fostering the implementation of concepts and approaches for (i) sustainable consumption and production, (ii) sustainable products and services, (iii) local and regional sustainability-related initiatives, and (iv) urban sustainability-oriented initiatives. It started as a network around a series of conferences under the name European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP) that started back in 1994 when the first Roundtable was organised in Graz, Austria. Its members present work from a wide range of backgrounds – from the specific to the holistic. Until 2002 the series of conferences were known as the European Roundtable for Cleaner Production. The main theme of the conference is Circular Europe for Sustainability: Design, Production and Consumption.
Gaiker, as lead beneficiary of WP6, Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment and product eco-design, has made a presentation about the results of the LCSA performed in the project to evaluate the sustainability of the pilot 1 of the circular case 1 in which a road has been constructed according to the specifications described in the standard EST-3.

The results of the sustainability assessment have shown that the solution constructed using waste paper fly ashes from the recycling paper industry is more sustainable than the current solutions in which lime is used.
